About K. J. Klemme

KJKlemme-for-ESW1Karlie Klemme spends her days supporting software systems with nervous coworkers—all fearing Karlie will kill them off in one of her stories. Decapitate a developer? Asphyxiate an analyst? Maybe maim a manager? When Karlie gazes off in the distance, everyone starts to sweat.

Desperate to use her powers for good, Karlie put pen to paper and wrote Tourist Trapped, a suspense novel that debuted in 2014. She set the story in Cancun, tapping into her experiences from numerous jaunts to the Yucatan.

When not torturing characters or frolicking in the tropics, Karlie enjoys kayaking, gardening, skiing, and joyrides in her roadster. She lives in Wisconsin with a Westie and a Scottie-mix who allow Karlie to cohabit with them…as long as the treats cupboard remains well stocked.

  1. I loved the book! I like the multiple stories going on and knowing there will be another book to read! Reminds me of Sue Grafton books. I love her style too! Well done Karla!!

  2. Hi. I loved Tourist Trapped. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started the book and then I couldn’t put it down!

    Thank you!!

  3. I loved your book. I have it on kindle. Everywhere I went is was with me. I enjoyed it very much. Cant wait for your next one. I hope Amanada and Chad get together. They deserve to be happy.

  4. Karlie, I really, really enjoyed your book. Tourist Trapped. Can’t wait for the next one. The only part I didn’t like was when the cat was killed.

    • Barb, thanks for letting me know you enjoyed the book! I was torn about Cleo–I adore that cat–but I felt I needed to be true to Gordon, and I think that’s the way he would react at that point in time. But I’ll tell you, I’m so thankful we have far more Amandas and Chads in the world than we have Gordons!

  5. Wow, Karlie ~ what an amazing book you have written! I plumb loved Tourist Trapped and was sad to reach the end! That is always how I feel when I read a great book ~ am excited for the next one this summer!

    • Jo Anne, thank you so much for letting me know that you enjoyed TOURIST TRAPPED. It truly was a labor of love. I hope you’ll enjoy book two just as much when it comes out next summer!

  6. Just finished your book yesterday, and it is an awesome read ! Great characters and storyline kept me intrigued the whole time. Just when I thought it was over, you managed to add another twist to the story. Great writing and I can’t wait for the next book in this trilogy.

  7. Well written book! It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. My only complaint is that I couldn’t put it down and now all my other chores are left undone. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.

    • Leona, I’m sorry I’ve caused your activities to back up, but I’m thrilled you enjoyed the book! I’m working on the second one–not as fast as I’d like, but I’m chipping away at it!

When is the next book coming out? Thanks!

    • I have to apologize–I took a new job and moved to another state. Since relocating I haven’t seemed to have enough mental bandwidth outside of work to get back to writing. I completed the first draft of the second book but realized I had too many people in it–very challenging for the reader to keep track of everyone. I started to rework it, but then major project after major project started rolling in and I just haven’t been able to get back to it. Lately scenes have started popping into my head out of the blue, so I suspect my subconscious is working on it. Hopefully by summer I’ll be able to dig back in.

      • I’m glad to see a recent update. On my birthday no less. I’ve been checking back every so often in hopes of an update. I am an avid reader of this genre at your book is one of my most enjoyed reads. I hope you are able to focus on your writing again some day.
